Question: Do the students you meet help contribute to your materials research?

I’ve had all kinds of students working on my research. I have 2nd or 3rd year university students who do short projects on it, I have had a postgraduate student do a longer project on it and I sometimes have high school students doing the Nuffield Science Bursary thing for a few weeks in the summer. The Nuffield scheme is for KS5 students but it might be something you’re interested in (http://www.nuffieldfoundation.org/science-bursaries-schools-and-colleges) if your at/when you get to that stage, and with a researcher who works near you.

Some of the results these students have got have been some of the best results so far in this research.

I’ve never thought about getting other students that I meet to work on it – I do quite a few talks to school groups ages 13 – 18. Usually I only get half an hour with them so it’s not really long enough.
