• Question: How could I be a doctor?

      You’d have to do GCSEs in science and other stuff, get very good A-levels then go to university to study medicine (to be a medical doctor), or study another subject then do a PhD degree to become a doctor of philosophy. I have a PhD in chemistry so get called doctor, but I’m pretty useless around sick people!

      Depends on the kind of doctor you are referring to. To be a medical doctor, you need to get very good grades at A levels to get into the medicine course at University to train to be a doctor.

      If you want to be a PhD like Katherine and Darren (or Jon and I in the future), you need to do a first degree in a subject and then go for post graduate studies.

      Its maybe worth noting a strange quirk in Britian. Most medical doctors in this country are not technically proper doctors, because they do not hold a doctorate degree like a PhD or an MD.

      Instead, most of them have a “Bachelor of Medicine” degree. However, they are still qualified to practise medicine (which is the most important thing, obviously!)
