If my work works, it might affect other people by being a new way to treat infected wounds or treat cancer (not cure it!). So that might impact the future in a good way. Yes we’ve discovered new things – we have new types of materials that can hold drugs a bit like little sponges, and we’ve worked out how to make them which is one of the hardest bits.

At the moment it doesn’t really affect people but if it works in the future hopefully it can have an impact on the future by providing clean renewable fuel for the future vehicles and energy storage. I haven’t discovered anything new just yet but hopefully over the next few years I will.

In the future, we might be using microalgae to solve the global warming problem. I have discovered new genes in the microalgae that I’m working on. Hopefully, we can manipulate these genes to make the microalgae better at what they do- photosynthesis and carbon dioxide capture.
