Not too sure, but there are two bits of information you need the speed of the meteor and the mass (size) of the asteroid. A very small object travelling at 30 000 miles per hour would do little damage, but the meteor was about 1 mile across, it would be the same amount of energy as a 1 million megaton nuclear bomb (the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima was 20 kilotons). So to calculate the damage, the size of the meteor is just as important.
