  Phosphorus is a really reactive chemical so if you have a molecule like water, it can react quite violently with phosphorus. Not all molecules will react with phosphorus – we can store it safely in certain materials so they are OK. Phosphorus also forms a large part of your body when it is in different compounds like calcium phosphate (bones and teeth) and DNA, then it’s not very reactive.
  Generally the element phosphorus reacts violently with water, oxygen and stuff like that.
