      Most scientists would say that Jesus could not be born if Mary and Joseph did not have sex.

      The Bible is not considered a reliable record of the science of things that happened in those times, because the people around then did not understand much about biology (or physics or chemistry!) They tried to come up with explanations for things they saw or were told, but these explanations were often wrong and are certainly not based on any scientific evidence.

      Darren is entirely correct about the science of the bible.
      Some people suggest that Jesus, as the son of God, actually had two fathers (God the father, and the Holy Spirit).
