      The most interesting thing I have seen is under a microscope. The microalgae that I work on can move. So watching them under a microscope is quite interesting because they are always scurrying about. I can sit and watch them for quite a long time! Reminds me of people rushing about during rush hour!

      In chemistry, probably this picture
      It’s a molecule called pentacene, and has been taken with a special kind of microscope called an atomic force microscope. Chemists draw molecules every day but until we could get pictures like this, the way we drew our molecules were just theories. This picture proves we got it right!

      Otherwise, I saw the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) about 10 years ago and that was beautiful and interesting. I was in Scotland at the time and you don’t often see them that far south. You can see pictures from this year on http://spaceweather.com/
