      Our bodies have both male and female hormones. Males have more male hormones than female ones and hence have male characteristics. Females have more female hormones and appear female.

      However, as females grow older, they enter menopause which means the levels of female hormones decrease. As a results, the effects of male hormones become more noticeable. This can result in male characteristics such as increased facial hair (beard, moustache).
