      Do you mean their hair colour?

      Its because some versions of genes are “recessive”. That means you need two copies of that version of the gene to the effect to be seen. So your parents can both have one copy of a recessive blonde version gene, but their other copy might be black or brown. So they have black or brown hair. However, if you get the blonde version from your mum and the blonde version from your dad, then you have two copies, so you will have blonde hair.
