We have, and have had acid rain. In the 1980s pollution was a big problem from certain industries. They produced a lot of sulfur dioxide gas. When gases like sulfur dioxide mix with water in rain drops, they form acids like sulfuric acid. This makes acid rain. I remember watching newsround when I was about 13 and seeing pictures of forests that were dead because of acid rain.
Things like carbon dioxide can form acidic solutions in water, and oxides of nitrogen do too.
